Thailand is one of South East Asia’s most populous and influential countries. Its cuisine, martial art and brand of Buddhism are all famous globally. It is no surprise then that Thailand also happens to be one of the world’s most popular tourist and expatriation destinations. Having one of the lowest cost of living in the region and a very accessible visa system also helps, obviously. Tax-wise, Thailand is one of the few countries using both the residential and remittance systems. This is great as it makes optimization easy, so much so that it is possible to live tax-free in Thailand provided that you fall within a number of categories. Banking in Thailand is fairly poor but may interest some due to the high ATM fees imposed on foreign cards and a lack of participation in CRS (for now).
