Chile is Latin America’s richest and most developed country. It is a large exporter of minerals, fruits and seafood. Interestingly, its elongated geography means that it experiences an unusual range of climates, from arid desert to rain forest to polar ice caps to Mediterranean. As is the case for most South American countries, Chile is also an immigrant country. This reflects in how easy it is to acquire residency and how easy it is to become a citizen. Tax-wise, Chile is a fairly low-tax country. Of particular interest is the six year exemption on foreign-sourced income offered to new residents. Business-wise, entrepreneurs in Chile benefit from less bureaucracy and less corruption in comparison to neighbouring countries not to mention the Startup Chile program.
